For as long as I can remember, I existed in the background, in someone's shadow. Working someone's dream, following someone's advice, hoping for someone's hand-me-downs, rather than exploring the depth of who I am. I looked in the mirror and imagined someone else. Someone prettier, skinnier, and more accomplished. Someone the world preferred.
