Jewel Talk 3

Depression is dark. It is an overwhelming sense of insurmountable pressure with no possibility of relief. The feeling of impossibility is what drives irrational thinking and mental decline. The situation looks bleak. The expected help doesn’t show up. But God never leaves your side.

Darkness often feels like abandonment. But turning off the light in a fully furnished room does not cause the furniture to disappear. The darkness makes navigation difficult, but things remain in place. Therefore, practical revelation teaches the ever presence of God remains constant, even in the absence of light.

In the frustration of the moment, we can’t see Him. We can’t see our way. There are no visible signs of the ever presence. But He is there. Just because life temporarily dims the light does not mean God has left the scene.

As we practice intentional living, we must keep moving forward, with an assurance that we are not alone on the journey.
